The Disaster in Haiti

Prior to Hurricane Ike, Haiti was in dire straits. After Ike, Haiti has since elevated to an even greater state of emergency. In a country where so many were already suffering, both hurricanes- Hanna and Ike- have added salt to an already infectious wound. Many cities were hit hard, with Gonaives being hit the hardest. The city had yet to recover from hurricane Jeanne, which hit four years ago- debilitating what was.

In case you aren't familiar with how bad things are in Haiti right now let me inform you! A few months back I had read an article about how "dirt" was the main ingredient for cookies. Cookies that many had to eat because the price of rice had risen and many could not afford it. Hunger had taken over and desperate times call for desperate measures. Now, here comes Hanna... with Ike soon to follow. I really don't know how much more this country can take. Nevertheless, the people are strong- many have fought for their life most of their lives and are still fighting. Now, THAT is real strength.

This is really touching... often times we go thru struggles and others wish that they were in our position. GOD BLESS THE PEOPLE OF HAITI!!!

Its really sad to hear about the terrible conditions in Haiti and its even sadder that the media doesn't talk about it. I really hope that they will be able to pull through some day.

It's so unfortunate tht ppl in the world have to live like that. Everyday I try to think about how blessed I am to have clothes on my back and food in my pantry. I can't imagine the constant struggle that they have to go through day to day especially if they're still recovering from 4yrs ago. Thanks for the links on information to help.
