So Proud...

I'm so proud this morning! I just HAD to speak on this triumph (it would be a crime to continue with my regularly scheduled post regarding cheap vs. expensive flat irons!) I'm extremely happy for the Obama family- It's been a long journey thus far. President Obama said "Yes, we can" and yes! we did, ladies and gentlemen. With the large number of citizens who came out to vote, we truly demonstrated power in numbers.
Keep in mind however, that it isn't over yet. It's FAR from over. The newly elected president has a lot of work to do. As he indicated last night in his speech, things aren't going to change over night. This IS definitely the first positive step towards change though.

For many of us this has been a personal experience. If my grandparents were alive today they would be filled with soooo much joy as well. It's truly my duty (and pleasure) to rejoice in their name and the many others who paved this way.

May God continue to bless America.

Yesterday was a historic day! Seeing ppl of all races come together as a nation and vote for change was amazing.
I have to admit, I thought about wht would happend if Obama didn't win and my only conclusion was that ppl as a nation would probably give up on the system and stop voting.

They said that McSame's speech was sincere and if he would've taken that road all along then the outcome would've been diff. I agree, he gave a good concession speech,h/e everything happens for a reason. The McSame camp was full of too much negativity to triumph. Even last nite, his supporters showed more negativity.

It wasn't the nations time for another 4yrs of the last 8yrs. I cried last nite b/c of the joy I felt for the newly elected president, my grandparents, my parents, and my siblings. I don't think anyone understands wht this means for african americans & our nation in general. This may not be our 40acres and a mule but it's a pretty good start!

I can hardly come up with words to fully describe how proud, how excited, how incredibly happy I am now! Last night I could hardly speak! I screamed and cried because Barack Obama (Mr. President) is going to the White House! My grandparents would have been sooooo happy....the times that they lived through made it seem as though this day would never come...I wish they could have lived to see it...

Been lurking here a couple weeks drinking in all the good hair info in the hope that my natural hair and I can come to some kind of amicable agreement. :) I'm in Trinidad and there's a viral text message making it's way around today:

"Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther could walk... Martin walked so Obama could run... Obama is running so our children can fly! Keep this going..."

To my American brothers and sisters of all races who made this change happen: the world is proud of you today!

I'm so proud! It is just a wonderful feeling. We have a lot of work to do and so does President Obama. I hope all Americans stand with him and help rather than expect him to work miracles. He believes in hard work and not hand outs. I think a lot of people may get upset with him because of some of the choices he'll have to make. But we'll see. I can't wait to see him be inaugurated. Are you going? If so, see you there (it will be packed LOL)
