What I've learned with this style is that:
- It eliminates frizz!
- It helps prevent shrinkage; the straws on the ends help to stretch and elongate the hair.
- If your hair is a big punchbowl full of various textures (like mine) this will help to maintain evenness (one side of my head is much more tightly curled than the other, causing one side to hang slightly longer)
- Your natural curls will still "find" each other. Although your hair is being manipulated into twists, once the twists are removed your natural pattern will work together with the waves created from the twists- creating your own unique look.

Wes- you look great! I'm going to try this on my tempermental tresses very soon. Will let you know the outcome. Keep up the good work..I'm loving your blog!
Your hair is fab but the accessory is extra fab..
omg your hair looks so pretty! i wish i had hair like yours :) where did you get the feather accessorie?
Wes, your hair looks great. I'm loving the hair accessory. Great to see that it can look good on day 2 because that is always the deal breaker for me. I will try it and let you know how it goes.
You Look Gorgeous!! My length is not ready for this hairstyle yet but I forwarded it to my mother (mid-back length) and she loves it. Over the years her natural ringletts have caused complete straightness at the top, and she likes the more uniform look. I love the headband and the earrings by the way...
PS she also spritz(ed) her hair with water and a giovanni conditioner direct leave in mix and retwisted to prolong the style.
You look stunning and the hair looks sooo good...I REALLY want to try this!!! I got some McDonalds straws last night LOL :)
Now I just need to take the time and do it...can't wait to try it but I am nervous I'll admit :)\
You have the best techniques and ideas...love it..
I tried this last friday after I washed my hair and it came out horrible. I detangled with conditioner and then twisted and used hard rollers. So after seeing your post I tried again on Monday night and loved it. I used perm rods instead of straws and I sealed my ends with coconut oil and twisted with deva one conditioner. Since my hair wasn't freshly washed, I lightly sprayed each section with water before I twisted. Today is day two and it still looks cute.
Loving that feather headband...girl, I have to stop playing and order one of those. And the hair is uber fab!
Muy bonita, one day I will get the patience to do something like that to my hair. I feel like for me it will be an all day ordeal lol.
All,
You can get the headband at Urban Outfitters. They have new hair accessories and bands for Spring too.
@Everybody- Thanks, for those of you giving it a try- let me know how it works out for you!
The headband- I got from a street vendor in SoHo ($25), I have her biz card and will post the info ASAP
Oh so cute! Loving that feather...
I love it... you look gorgeous, and yes I've tried it and your comments are spot on.
Glad to see the syle held up on Day 2, your hair looks fab and the headband is fierce! I doubt my small afro will be able to hold any curls like yours but I love the stlye on you.
Can I make an appointment please. Thank you!
So pretty, I almost can't stand it. Lol. But I have to say, I almost squealed when I saw the feathered headband... I've been seeing it on a lot of straight styles but never knew if a curly girl (i.e. me) could pull it off... clearly you've given me something to try now. :o)
This style suits you really well

You are so pretty! Wow! No wonder Xilla has a thing for you! LOL
Beautiful hair! I have hair just like yours but not the lenght! I hate having hair that not short and not long!
Haven't tried it but I will! The punchbowl of hair textures on my head can be fun at times but I think it's time for something new. Beautiful pic. Love the feathered headband and the earrings.
I love this headband! You're one pretty lady! You remind me of Nia Long. :)
Where did you get the headband? I love it.
