1. Prior to doing my WavyCoil, I recently washed and conditioned with Giovanni Organics XTreme Smooth as Silk Protein Hair Infusion packet (about $2 per packet). According to the packaging, it:
- Adds body: Agree
- Shine: Agree
- "Smooth as silk slip": Strongly agree
- Revitalizes frayed, raspy, damaged, over-processed or coarse hair: Since I've only used it once, I can't really say I've noticed an immediate difference. However, I will say that my ends do not seem to be as dry as usual (though that could be attributed in part to the Jane Carter solution "Twist & Lock" cream as well)
- First five ingredients (which are the most important): Certified Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit/Pamplemousse), Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange), Citrus Medica Limonium (Lemon/Citron) Peel, Echinacea Angustifolia (Coneflower/Rudbeckie) Extract, and Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf
Have you tried any of Giovanni Organics products? This is my first time purchasing one of their products. Do you like it? Would you recommend it?

2. Many of you may already be privy to Elasta QP's DPR-11 Remoisturizer (about $6). I love it- I noticed a difference immediately. I didn't use heat along with this treatment, I simply covered with a plastic cap in the shower for about 15 minutes and rinsed. The next day while removing my twists, I couldn't help but notice how soft and shiny my hair was. I will definitely continue to use this. What it claims:
- 11 Plant extracts, essential oils and vitamins penetrate the hair
- Moisturizing emollients renew moisture depleted hair, giving strength and elasticity: Agree
- Peach Blossom oil and vitamin E soothe the scalp
- First five ingredients: Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) extract, Melissa Officinalis (Balm Mint), Leaf oil, and Tussilago Farfara (Coltsfoot) flower extract
It's my new love :-)

i have used elasta products in the past--so Imma have to try the dpr 11---thanks for the recommendation
i use giovanni direct leave-in. it's almost comparable to elucence moisture balancing conditoner, which is my first love and staple to the end. the giovanni leave in always gives me soft hair and works well with all my gels. i never have any curdling or white balls that a lot of people get in their hair when their leave-in and styler don't play nice. some people have problems with it because of the protein, but my hair is protein sensitive and i've never had any issues. i recommend it. =)
i have a dpr-11 somewhere in my stash, now that i think of it. experimenting with all these new products made me forgot how well it worked. time to dig it back up, haha!
I use the following Giovanni Organics products: the direct leave in confitioner, the nutrafixx hair reconstructor and the smooth as silk shampoo. I try to buy them at Whole Foods when they go on sale for $4.99. Of all three I like the Nutrafixx hair reconstructor the most, it has almost the same list of ingredients as the direct leave in. The shampoo was OK, not bad, just OK. Overall these products do give amazing slip and shine for days. I will try the Elasta QP DPR-11 and see how that goes.
Thanks for this post!! I really need to treat my hair to some deep conditioning pronto! lol
giovanni direct leave-in!! I'll have to pick up the Elasta QP
i just used the giovanni triple tree shampoo...for some reason i feel like it strips my hair though :( i want to try the GPB line of organic products tho
Thx for these. I have not tried any of these 2. Im interested in the Elasta. Where in the city can I get it from b/c I've never seen it in the drugstores (DuaneReade / RiteAid). Thanks!
@ Bonafide Latina: Most beauty supply stores carry Elasta products
I usually use coconut oil to deep condition, but I'm always open to new options....
the giovanni in the packet is the truth. i don't use it every time i deep condition because i don't want to overload on protein, but when i do use it my hair comes out so soft and it's super easy to detangle. i only wish they sold it in a jar.
Okay great thx I will look in one this weekend...
I have always been curious of Elasta QP products. Heard good things, but just never tried. This weekend will be my first try out with this Conditioner. I want my hair to look silky =)
Thanks Wes!

Tried Giovanni leave in treatment and HATED it. Made my hair feel super dry, which was what I was trying to combat.
Gonna pick up some DPR-11 this weekend and give my kinks a kick. Thanks for the tip.
I love giovanni it made my hair feel so soft!! I used the smooth as silk also
love giovanni!
You know, I've tried this product twice and didn't like it either time. It left my hair excessively greasy both times. It felt so disgusting to the touch. Even after 15 minutes of rinsing my hair clean. But I sat underneath the dryer for 45 minutes. Could that be the problem? Maybe this treatment is strong enough that sitting under the dryer isn't a necessity. I might give it another go.
I use the Giovanni packets, but I find they work best when I add [warm] honey and grapeseed oil. The heat from the honey helps the conditioner penetrate the hair much better. Very good stuff!
