WavyCoil: A How-to Guide

I missed you guys- hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season! This year looks promising, so let's get started. Honeys, remember last year (more like two weeks ago ;-) I said I had begun to get frustrated with my curls? Well, thanks to the "Girlfriends" marathon on BET, my attempt at having hair like Joan's has been revived- I've found a solution and can't wait to share it!

Firstly, what I've decided to call "WavyCoil" is actually MY interpreted version of a twist-out. I've tried your typical twist-outs in the past and have been disappointed each time. Important factors: using minimal product and sealing your ends. *Please note that this style results in an undefined deep wave which will coil on the ends

To start, you'll need:
- Large Bobby Pins
- Drinking straws (cut into fours; I prefer McDonald's straws, they're slightly wider)
- Devacurl One Condition (although any leave in conditioner will suffice)
- Jane Carter Solution Twist & Lock cream (a moisturizing/holding cream)

1. Start with freshly washed and conditioned hair. Part hair into four sections; for each section use about a dime sized amount of the Devacurl One Condition. Part each section into smaller sections and twist into simple two strand twists. Once you have reached the ends, coat and seal with the Jane Carter Solution T&L cream, twist and wrap around the straw and secure with one bobby pin:
2. Continue until your entire head is complete- I usually do about 20 twists.

3. Set overnight, or underneath a dryer (I use the dryer and set overnight)

4. When my hair is completely dry, I remove the straws first:
5. Once all straws have been removed, unravel one twist then finger comb to thoroughly separate. The catch is to then twirl the ends back into the same curl formation the straw created. It should begin to look like this:

6. Continue to unravel & twirl until all twists have been removed. Using about a nickel sized dab of coconut oil to help fluff and smooth, the finished result:
