I also wanted to share with you all my "shedding experience" since Henna-ing. I went four days last week without washing- I wore it down for two days and then in a bun for the remaining days. When I did wash it, I noticed minimal hair shed. Usually I have a brush full of strands plus a good amount of loose hairs on the side. Notice the few hairs! (I wish I had a before pic for you to reference).

Does your hair shed a lot? The way my hair normally sheds you'd think I'd be BALD by now!!

Your not alone my hair sheds A WHOLE LOT. I henna'ed and I noticed a whole lot less shedding so I guess I have to henna less often.
Awww, look at the curls. That doesn't look like a lot, which is a good thing!
i have a good amount of shedding since i usually just wash twice a week, then throw it up
It's funny that you post this topic today. I co-washed a twistout (4 days old) last night and thought I had alot of shedding. I have been hennaing every week for the past month so I was quite surprised by all the shedding. I know I will experience some shedding due to the twist-out but I have to determine what is too much shedding.
My hair sheds like crazy. I do a quick brush thru of my hair and you see long strands of hair bunched on my comb or brush. I have hair everywhere on my clothes, coat, scarf anything really, it travels lol. What exactly is Henna, can people with relaxed hair.
What is co-wash, I've read that on this and other blogs?
@ Anon . . . a co-wash is simply washing you hair and scalp with conditioner instead of shampoo. You have to rinse it very well though to avoid buildup!
I shed TONS! My bathroom is like a hair trap . . . I'm constantly cleaning to rid my home of all the stray hairs. That being said, I still have a LOT of hair. It's not thinning at all.
my hair sheds depending on what i've done to it and how i've been taking care of it...but i guess that's everyone...i'm going to try the cassia and see if there's a difference in my shedding
Hey Wes... I have some shedding, not as much as I did when I was getting monthly perms and weekly doobies. The shedding is a lot though, I have not Henna'd yet (still on the fence, and researching). I thouhgt it could be just from my hair's growth. I decided I will keep a style for a week or more to avoid any manipulation, maybe that will help the shedding.
One thing I really noticed when I went natural was that instead of finding long hairs on the carpet or the bottom of the shower I would find tiny perfect circles! I'm also finding less of them because I'm not combing or fussing with my hair anymore. So I don't think I'm shedding much. I think I'll only detangle with a Denman once every 2 weeks and the rest of the time I will use a wide tooth comb or not detangle at all.
the curls look so cute :)
how did you decide which ends to cut? did you look for split ends?
@ Bonafide Latina: Nope, I trimmed my whole head- clipping about 1/2" off each "curl"
Yeah my hair sheds alot too!lol
aww! this is so random but your curls look like little baby curls from a..baby! LOL.
The next time I trim I'm going to try this method.

I am transitioning and i feel as though my hair sheds a lot too...I see the 'bulb' at the end, so I know it's shedding, but I do with I had less of it. Is there anything to do besides henna to reduce shedding? If I don't was my hair as much as twice a week, could that be a culprit? I guess I have to experiment.
Thanks for Posting this one!

gorgeous curls, try a a garlic shampoo mama, it should help.
When I don't wash often, I have alot of shedding. I wanna try henning but I haven't gotten around to it.
Can someone please explain what henna is and what are the benefits of doing it??? I'm still unsure of the process. Thanks
thanks for reminding me it's time for a trim.
i'm gonna cosign with dominican enigma about using the garlic shampoo if you're shedding more than normal. it really works.
