Last week I made a visit to the Wellington Hair Spa on 23rd street, here in the city. I had first met/learned about Patrick Wellington at a networking event last year. I wasn't sure what to expect but I know I needed to have my ends clipped! After arriving, I changed into a robe and was escorted to the salon chair. The most important part of a salon experience is communication! Patrick spoke to me about my hair and asked questions. The salon is stocked with Mizani, Affirm, Aveda and Paul Mitchell products. My hair was washed and deep conditioned using Mizani's MoisturFusion products.
Once done rinsing, Patrick blow dried my hair using a very low heat setting (I didn't feel any heat at all) and then flat ironed. He then proceeded to clip my ends, shaping the layers slightly.
I was pleased with my results but even more impressed with his portfolio. This man can work wonders on short hair styles! If I ever decide to go short again, I know where to go ;-)
The only drawback was that the salon doesn't really cater to natural hair styles. However, if you're a permed honey looking for a contemporary or cutting edge cut, Wellington is the place to go! Prices are very reasonable and vary pertaining to length.
Honey Brown Sugar readers will receive 15% off on their visit to the Wellington Hair Spa

Wes!! I love it! Am I a loser for loving both the before AND after? Hahaaaa!
Your hair looks so healthy. Do you mind sharing your hair care regime with us?

Wow, your hair looks straight in the after photo. And he used less heat. Wow! Is this a salon that caters to all hair types?
Your hair looks great, btw!!!
It looks great Wes! I'm not in NYC but maybe I'll have to check it out.
Wow! Your hair looks great!
This looks amazing, you have a great head of hair!
Have to go here.
I think I am going to set up an appointment.
You hair came out very nice. But both pics look nice lol, like B said :)
I need a relaxer but want to try something different other than the Dominican salons.
I love the hair. But, am I the only one who can tell NO DIFFERENCE between the before and the after. I hope his services were FREE! lol
Nice pics, though.
I’m a curly hair girl and this summer I decided I was going to have layers cut into my hair. After following your blog for a few months and trying some of the things you have tried (ex. henna), I looked into the Wellington Hair Spa. I have always been one that was a little weary of having layers because I haven’t seen a lot of black women (with shoulder length hair or longer) that have nice straight hair layered haircuts, with the exception of you, Wes. Well, today was my appointment and after meeting Patrick and having him style my hair all I can say is, I LOVE IT. Great post, I would have never know about this salon had you not gone.
