Cornrow'd Up!

On Tuesday, once I noticed rain would be a part of this weeks forecast, I decided to change up my usual styling routine. I haven't cornrowed my hair since college and wanted to see if I still got it. It took me about an hour, but the finished results were better than I imagined!

Here's what I did:
-I did a clarifying wash using Neutrogena's Anti-Residue shampoo and conditioned using Aussie's Deep 3 Minute Miracle Moisture Treatment.
-With soaking wet hair, I did a part down the middle of my head. I always do the middle part first, this helps keep the other parts even.
-I secured the right half with a clip and then created a part for the smallest cornrow above my ear on the left.
-Using a spray bottle with 1 part Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla Leave-in Conditioner and 4 parts water, I spritzed the section (above my ear) to keep it soaking wet.
-Prior to braiding, I used Mizani's Shimmer Reflects Gel on my edges and along the hair near the part (not on the scalp) to keep the fuzzies at bay.
-Sectioned next area, parted and repeated.
-Once completed, I wrapped with my silk scarf and kept it moving!

*Once all of the rows were done, I gathered all of the braids and braided into one big braid. I then tucked under and secured with a black band.

PS- The next day I did a simple upkeep using Mizani's Gloss Veil Shine Spray (<--- LOVE this stuff) and went off to conquer the world ;-)

this style is absolutely gorgeous. love the earrings too! are they cornrows are french braids? i always though cornrows were when the braid is visibile on top and french braids were vice versa...well either way it is beautiful. you rock it very well.

This is so cute on you! And the earrings are perfect with this look. Are these braided inwards to create french braids? I'm not good at the outward cornrows but I am a whiz with french braids. If so, then I can definitely rock this!! Keep the hot hairstyle ideas comin' Wes!

These look fabulous! I can't wait until my hair grows back so I can rock this style again!
One question ~ Did you under hand braid the front and then over hand braid in the back?
Again, they look fabulous!!!!!!!
