How to Work Your Crown:
Let me tell you something, beauties: I've been natural all of my life, and only recently did I learn how to love this coily and kinky head of hair God gave me. During a personal journey, I found a Mecca of self-love and I learned how to put a confident smile on my face while rocking my signature and sexy (yes, sexy, WORK!) curly fro. And, beauties, learning to work that crown isn't hard, but it takes a body full of confidence, a heart full of self-love, and a fistful of dedication.
First thing you must remember is that God (or The Universe, or whatever you believe in) didn't make any mistake while creating the beauty that is you. Every kink and curl was placed and arranged on your head without fault – so that you could rock it to its fullest potential.
Secondly, know that you will get attention for that kinky, coily, curly crown that sits on top of you, queen. Some will ask questions, and even ask for advice. Some give off negative vibes. Keep that smile bright, either way, and always turn any energy into positive energy. And remember, they can throw rocks at the throne, but they will never hit the queen! WORK!
Next, know what products work for you and know how to handle your hair. For example, my hair loves slippery conditioners and Shea butter, without a lot of harsh detangling, while other heads like silicones instead of butter and have to detangle their hair daily. No kink or curl is made equal!
And finally, let the confidence shine, cause no matter how the hair looks, you will be fierce! Shoulders back, head up! Go conquer the world, beautiful and WORK THAT CROWN!

Nice post. Well written.
You are so right about natural locks being an attention getter. I have been natural and relaxed over the years. However, when my hair is in its natural state I feel so..unique. I've gone from an inch long big chop to a full and fierce curly fro, and it all makes me stand out in the crowd. I looooove that!
Thank you miss! I appreciate all the love.
Way to go Naima - I salute your wisdom. I only wish I had such knowledge and self confidence at 19 years old!

I too have been natural all my life but only recently began to love my hair. I am 27, but wish that I had this same attitude at 19! Oh well, better late than never! I love what you wrote and will be sharing this with fellow naturals that may not be fully appreciative of their curls and kinks yet.
LOVE this. :-)
So much wisdom for such a young woman. I love it!!! Keep writing because I want to hear more from you. Thank you Naima.
this is great a good role model 4 me. It's so hard @ 13 to still be natural, everyone is getting their relaxer. But I know from reading all the natural hair blogs its best to stay natural and proud
