Several of you have asked where did I get my hair cut. I found a great salon, Salon Santa Cruz located on Fifth Avenue, between 28th and 29th streets (NYC). A haircut with a junior stylist runs between $30 - 85, haircuts with a senior stylist cost somewhere between $55 - $165. Not cheap, but very reasonably priced. Santa Cruz, the owner, styled my hair- She's great!I must say though: they're not really great at styling natural hair, but they've got the cutting part down (I had to go home and re-style my hair). But then again, no one has ever done a great job when it comes to styling my curls- I'm the master at it and that's just that.
Most importantly though: I WILL be going back!

Cool, what was your total if you don't mind sharing?
yaaayyy! thanks Wes!
This place is across the street from my office. My friend went there and she didn't like it so much, but your cut is really nice so I may pay them a visit.
Thanks so much for the salon info. I've been seeking out a new salon for the longest but I've been a bit nervous about trying someone new. As a former client of Miss Jessie's salon in BK I'm use to getting a great cut but the PRICE has always left my pockets turned inside out. The prices at Santa Cruz salon seem extremely reasonable. Haven't had a cut in almost a year. (The pockets are still recovering from Miss Jessie's) so a year later my stands are screaming for a trim/shape up. Santa Cruz salon here I come.
Thanks again for the info.
I have never left a salon with a style that I like. I'm usually happy with the cut, but the styling always has to be redone by me. Even when I get it flat-ironed and cut, I just go home and either put rollers in or wrap it for a few hours. The cut is really all that matters. As long has you have a good shape (that is the hard part!), you can do the rest.
Wes, Can you tell me what the used to detangle your hair before the blow out/cut? I'm trying to decide if I should be prepared to to to Salon Santa Cruz armed with a bottle of Kinky Curly's Knot Today.
Thanks!
thanks for the info... i need a few inches chopped off... i'm very reluctant right now because i'm FINALLY at the length i've been yearning to be at... the length i dreamed of when i decided to go natural BUT i'm there at this length with ends that aren't really healthy... so now it's time to chop chop
