About a year ago my best friend decided that she was going natural because her hair was breaking off. I wished her luck and kept it moving, still going to my Dominican stylist and getting my perms. Secretly, I wondered what my natural hair looked like, but I tried to brush it off, because going natural was not for me. I didn't have that "good hair", mine kinks up at the mention of water (good hair is what I used to call hair that was more loosely curled than my own. Noticed I said "used to". I have since enlightened :-).Then one day, I noticed something while looking at my high school graduation pictures: my hair had been the same length for like 5 years! The same "slightly below the chin never quite making it to the shoulders" length. I knew my hair was growing because my new growth was insane but the ends were breaking off. So, my hair was staying the same length. I decided to stop getting perms just to see what would happen because what's the worse that could happen? I mean I could always get another perm. My last one was in the beginning of April 2009.
Just out of curiosity, are you "natural" or "relaxed"?

Both, currently rocking 2 textures. Last perm was in July, I keep challenging myself to see how far I can go minus the bc.

My last relaxer was in August 2007 and I BCed on February 22, 2008, so I'm almost at my 2 year anniversary!
I'm all natural.
Last relaxer was May 2008.
Big Chop was in September 2008.
Both...last relaxer was 9/2008. I'm chopping the rest off in March for my B-Day!
Natural. I didn't record when I cut for good, I know it has been about 6 years though. It wasn't the first time that I went natural so it wasn't momentus for me. It just felt right. I started my locks 4 years ago around Thanksgiving. We had a bunch of family over and I was a twisting fool, lol!
I know what you mean about your hair growing, but not getting longer. Before my locks I didn't think my hair would grow past a certain length. Now it's to my shoulders and still growing! Have funand I'm looking forward to reading about your transition.

I'm relaxer-free, last relaxer May 2007, cut last of the ends June 2008. I still color my hair, so some may not consider me natural since I still embrace chemicals ;-)
Both :) My last relaxer was also in April 2009. I am going to try and transition for another 9 months.

I've been natural all my life and I love it!
My last perm was September 26 2009 I am going natural. Do I have to get a big chop one day or can I just let my hair grow out with trims when needed?
