Haircut + Pics

On Friday after work I ran home and did my hair. I couldn't wait to see what it would really look like after I did my "professional" work on it ;-)

I washed with my RenPure "My Pretty Hair is Parched" shampoo and conditioner, then used the Garnier Fructis Leave in Conditioning Cream to style my wash & go. I did about 3 tiny two strand twists for the frizzy area at the crown. For the front left side (that absolutely refuses to curl), I also did 2 two strand twists, and set the ends on cut pieces of straws (using a large bobby pin to secure).
*Note: I always use McDonald's straws because they're much wider than regular drinking straws.

After drying underneath my bonnet dryer for about 45 minutes, I fluffed a little with my fingers and then put up into a high ponytail to sleep. In the morning, I took out the ponytail, shook it out and fluffed it up some.

For the cut, I went to Time Salon in Brooklyn (718) 522.9030- It's located at 9 Greene Avenue (Simply take the C train to Lafayette Ave.). I wouldn't really recommend them for cutting natural/curly hair though. If you're hair is relaxed or you're looking for an edgy, short cut, then this is your place.

If you're looking for someone who REALLY knows curly hair, check out Santa Cruz at Salon Santa Cruz, (212) 684.2386, located at 254 Fifth Avenue, between 28th and 29th streets.

Hi Wes,

Your hair looks cute styled like this. It's similar to Tanika Ray's style just like you wanted but I do see what you mean about it being short. I still think you look fab you always look great. I wonder how it will look with a simple wash n go?

Holly, this is a wash & go, I only used the straw pieces for the two twists I had to do in the front.

Hey Wes -- What kind of bonnet dryer do you use? I've been looking into getting one and unsure of what works best.

I read great reviews about Time a few years ago and went there to get a consulatation when I was relaxed. The receptionist couldn't give me the time of day, let alone 3 minutes to answer a few of my questions. I didn't get a good vibe and never ended up returning for the actual service. Now that I'm natural, I think I'll try Salon Santa Cruz. But for the record Wes, you and your hair look phenomenal and you are (secretly, lol) a really big inspiration to me. Thanks for the tips!

Your hair looks beautiful and I love your hair color! It doesn't look that short to me. :-)

If this is a wash and go your hair has change tremendously, what do you think is the main cause for that..

Doesn't look THAT short or different to the length before, but I bet you can tell entirely more. :) Very nice, missy!!!

@Anon @ 12:50pm, it's weird but I don't know why, I guess because the curls are shorter it causes the actual curl to change shape. This might be something I should address in an upcoming post b/c as usual, the back is still very tightly curled.

@BKRain, aww thank you :-) Yes I know the vibe you're speaking of- I was there from 6pm (5:45 to be exact) and didn't walk out of that place until 9pm.

Hi Wes,

Please do a post address in an upcoming post. Even in the photos you had with the results from the Ren products your hair looks so amazing, maybe it's that...

I like it! i think the curls look good and I can see how the hair has been shaped by the cut. I need to get me one of those bonnet dryers. It seems to work wonders for you. good look.
