You can grow your hair to a length you are comfortable with and then cut off the relaxed ends. Of course, it&amp;#39;s important to not get them too small too tight, or leave them in for more than 3 months. What worked for me might not have worked for them, so its a &amp;quot;to each their own&amp;quot; situation. I chose to transition (as short as it was) using kinky twists. I had my last relaxer the last day in Jan, kinky twist 6 weeks post, and kept that style for 2 months. I found that afterwards dealing with the two textures were too much so I decided to just BC. I think if you decide to transition using braids it will make it harder for you to work with two textures because your hiding your hair and not getting that experience. It can be beneficial if you dont want to deal with your hair during that time but if not your missing out on seeing what works for your hair. Some days I wish I would&amp;#39;ve transitioned longer, other days I wish I would&amp;#39;ve BCed from the beginning. My best friend gave me the best advice ever when everybody else was telling me to BC... &amp;quot;just do what works for you&amp;quot;. I would say the same thing to anybody transitioning. I personally was not a fan of really really short hair on me and was unwilling to have it. So I waited and cut 3 inches every 3 months until I was completely natural. It worked. It made dealing with two different texture much much easier. Personally, I do not want to wear braids - - be it for transitioning or just to change it up. I found it difficult to deal with the two different textures of hair.
